ASTROSIB PF500 Telescope

High-speed F/2.8 telescope with a 2° field of view. Survey tasks, astrometry, photometry, astrophotography — all in one instrument.

The ASTROSIB PF500 is based on the RC500 with a substantially redesigned front section: the secondary mirror assembly is replaced by a three-element prime focus corrector. The swap requires no tools but must be done manually and cannot be performed remotely. 8 exoplanets have been discovered using ASTROSIB PF500 telescopes.

The optical system is designed for cameras with a sensor size of up to 37×37 mm and a pixel size of 9 µm.

The telescope is equipped with:

  • Carbon fiber truss structure minimizing the effects of temperature variation.
  • Climate control.
  • Motorized covers for the primary mirror and the prime focus baffle.
  • High-precision, high-speed pointing to any object on the celestial sphere.
  • High-precision object tracking at sidereal or arbitrary angular velocity. High-resolution optical encoders eliminate the need for autoguiding in most cases.
  • Control of all telescope subsystems from third-party astronomical applications via the ASCOM platform.
